Both of our Netball Introduction Programs are designed to teach people about the sport of netball. A certified Netball Coach will come to your summer camp or school to teach an introductory lesson or lessons about netball. The program is modified for different ages so that it is engaging for all levels of players. The Netball Coach will bring all equipment that is required for the program as well.

Summer Camp Program

This is offered for community summer day/week camps in the Lower Mainland. Netball Coaches will come to you and bring all equipment required for a 2 hour Netball Workshop. This workshop can be played both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). The cost for the workshop is $20, and if a camp cannot afford this we can make exceptions. Below is a sample workshop outline:

Warm-Up Game (usually a type of tag game that gets kids used to the court area that we will be using in the game)
Relays – passing, and shooting skills are taught
Shooting Competition
Netball Instruction (5 basic rules – takes max 5 minutes to explain so less time is spent sitting)
Netball Games (depending on numbers, kids and leaders are divided into 4 teams and teams playing are rotated)

This is a sample workshop and modifications are made to it based on the number of kids playing, the level of kids playing, the equipment available, and general group dynamics.

School Programs

Netball Coaches are also available to come to schools in BC to introduce netball in PE classes. BC Netball runs similar programs to that of Tennis BC. A coach will come and teach 3-4 lessons per class to introduce the sport. Netball will be introduced in stages, with the ultimate goal of introducing all rules to the students and teachers. BC Netball also provides a package to the schools that will aid teachers in continuing the sport. The package includes explanation of all rules, contact information, lesson plans and a list of the BC IRP's that are covered while teaching a unit on Netball. The program is recommended for Grades 4-7, however it can be modified for other grades. It is free for schools the first year, and only a minimal cost is charged for schools in subsequent years. Along with these programs, BC Netball can also offer teacher only workshops where we can explain the game and offer suggestions for activities and drills that can be used in PE classes.

Due to space limitation in booking, space is given on a first come first serve basis. Also due to high demand, intermediate classes will be given first priority.
